My physics textbook just outlined that although loudness is physically one thing, the way we perceive it can vary due to our familiarity with a particular pitch. It then goes on to say how the voice of a loved one can actually seem more melodious- even if physically speaking it’s not- because of how we listen, versus how we hear.

And now I’m sobbing because PHYSICS and EMOTIONS okay.
